We are delighted to run Forest School sessions for some of our older Butterfly children.
This is an exciting opportunity for the children to take part in regular outdoor learning experiences in a natural environment. Forest School supports children’s development in many important ways, including:
- Building confidence and independence
- Developing social skills and friendships
- Improving physical skills such as balance, coordination and strength
- Encouraging curiosity, creativity and problem-solving
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and resilience
- Helping children develop a love and respect for the natural world
Sarah Weaver is our Forest School Leader and along with Comper Staff they accompany children to Boundary Brook Nature reserve. We are thrilled to be working with the team at Boundary Brook in order to facilitate these sessions.
Clothing for Forest School
Please ensure your child is dressed in a long-sleeved top and long trousers for every session. If it is a warm day, you are welcome to pack additional lighter clothing for the rest of the day. However, it is important that children’s arms and legs are covered during Forest School for their safety.
This helps to protect them from stinging nettles, scratches from branches and brambles, insect bites and ticks, contact with mud and natural materials, minor cuts and grazes when climbing or exploring.
