Catherine King

Headteacher/Designated Safeguarding Lead

From an early age I realised that my passion in life involved working with children. In 2004 I began my career as a KS2 teacher and SENCo in an Inner City school in London, Hackney. Since moving back to Oxford in 2012, I have been a SENCo, Assistant Head, Acting Deputy Head and Inclusion Consultant for the County Council. During my career I have taught children across the primary age range from Nursery to Year 6. This breadth of experience has led me to develop a strong belief that children learn best when they are having fun and are engaged in practical, real life activities that spark their curiosity. I believe that strong relationships with parents and a commitment to working with the wider community are vital in ensuring that children are supported as they move through their school life. Out of school, I live with my husband, son, dog and two cats. We all enjoy being outdoors including long dog walks by the river and playing cricket in the park.

Sarah Weaver

Co Head/Assistant Headteacher/Senior Leadership Team/Reception Lead/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead/Teacher

I have been passionate about working with children from an early age and have worked in Childcare and Education in various capacities for the last 15 years. I graduated with a BA Dual Honours degree in Early Childhood Studies and Education and Human Development and went on to do a Postgraduate certificate in Education, specialising in Early Years. It has been a great pleasure to work at Comper for the last 12 years. I find working with young children and families extremely rewarding, every day is different and I get the opportunity to be part of a community that helps children learn, grow and develop. I am committed to providing children with a safe and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Family is important to me and I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three young children, playing, exploring, walking, hiking and singing!

Comper is a very special place and I consider it a great privilege to work with the children, families and staff here.

Alice Kiddell

Office Administrator

Hello, my name is Alice and I work in the school office. I have only recently moved to Oxford, so I am enjoying exploring the city and going for walks in the countryside. When I first came to Comper it reminded me very much of my first school where I made a lot of happy memories and began my love of learning, and now I feel privileged to be part of a team where we support children to do the same. No two days are ever the same working in a school, and I love this about my job!

Laura Chaplin

Daycare Deputy Lead

Working with children is something I had always wanted to do from a young age and in 1998 I was lucky enough to be offered my first position in a nursery. I worked predominantly with 2-3 year olds as a room leader up until 2020, when I moved to become part of the reception team in the Mango Class. Although I do miss the younger ones, the change has been positive and I really enjoy working with the older children.

Having worked at Comper since 2009 it has been wonderful seeing the school change and grow over the years.
I have 2 children of my own and as a family we enjoy exploring woods and visiting English Heritage sites. I also enjoy reading when I get the chance as well as listening to music and playing board/card games.
