Introduction to Nursery

We are very proud to be one of the seven maintained Nursery Schools in  Oxfordshire. Our Nursery is run by a very experienced NVQ Level 6 Nursery Lead and a Qualified Teacher. They are supported by a well trained and enthusiastic team of early years professionals.

We offer government funded places of either 15 or 30 hours (according to the government criteria and with an appropriate edibility code), for children the term after their 3rd birthday.

We offer our 15 hours as either morning sessions  8.45am -11.45am or afternoons 12.00pm -3.00pm.

For families that are only eligible for a 15 hour funded place, we offer the opportunity to buy additional morning or afternoon sessions depending on availability. We also offer extended day care before and after school. To book additional sessions or extended day care, please contact the office on office@comper.oxon.sch.uk

Key Person Approach

In order to ensure every child in the nursery is given the appropriate level of attention and care, a key person is appointed for each child. A key person is a named member of staff assigned to an individual child to support their development and act as the key point of contact for the child and their parents. The key person has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children and helps build and develop positive relationships with children and supports them to have a secure attachment with one adult when they are away from their main caregiver.

Outdoor Space

The nursery has a large secure garden attached directly to the classrooms. This gives the children plenty of  opportunity to play and explore outside whatever the weather.  We have just refurbished our main garden to include a lovely forest school area for all the settings to use and the nursery has a brand new mud kitchen and growing area. We ensure that our doors are open throughout the day so that the children can choose to be outside if they wish. Please make sure you bring waterproof clothing and wellies for your child so they can be outside rain or shine!
